10월 29일 밤 대한민국 서울특별시 용산구 이태원동에서 발생한 대형 압사사고로 156명의 사망자와 197명 이상의 부상자가 발생했습니다. 그날 밤 약 10만 명의 사람들이 모일 것으로 추정되었고, 많은 시민들이 지원 및 군중 통제를 위해 경찰에 신고했지만 참사를 막지 못했습니다.
여기 베를린에서 우리는 무력감을 느끼고 당국의 무능함에 분노하며 이 예방 가능한 재앙에 깊이 슬퍼하고 있습니다.
우리는 사람들이 혼자가 아니라는 것을 느낄 수 있기를 바라며, 희생자들을 애도하고 고통받는 유족들을 위해 메시지를 남길 수 있는 공간을 마련했습니다.
11월 20일, 애도의 시간에 초대합니다.
서로의 언어와 방법으로 표현하고 위로하는 자리입니다.

[We invite you to the memorial event of the 10.29 tragedy]
In Seoul, South Korea, on the night of the Oct 29th, 156 people were killed in a disastrous stampede during Itaewon district’s Halloween celebration. It was estimated around 100,000 people would gather that night. Many citizens reported to the police for backup and crowd control but the police showed up many hours later, not being able to prevent the tragedy or reduce the surge of people in the narrow alley.
Here in Berlin, we are feeling helpless, outraged over the incompetence of the authorities, and are grieving deeply over this preventable disaster.
We have prepared a space for those who need to grieve and mourn, feel that we are not alone, and leave messages for others who are suffering from their loss.
Join us on November 20th, where we will stand with each other, and express our condolences that feel the most comforting to you - recitation, spoken word, small speeches, or even silence.
